Originally opened in 1802 and refurbished in 2003 the open market is sited directly adjacent to the market hall, car park and bus station it comprises of 72 stalls and operates as a general retail market, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Thursday is Second-Hand day where used goods and collectables can be found (offering a positive Aladdin's cave).  An open market is also held on Sunday for both general retail goods and Second-Hand items
